Introduction

South Asia Foundation (SAF) is a private, voluntary development organisation formed in 1991 to strengthen people to people contact in South Asia. SAF works for all round development of artisans at the grassroot level, works with various State Government and Policy Makers, thus advocating policy that enhances the livelihood of the underprivileged at the policy level, works with various organisations in the South Asian region for the greater interaction and enhancing bi-lateral relations at the regional level.

With the focus on promoting peace and harmony by weaving nations together through the medium of cinema, South Asia Foundation creates a platform to bring filmmakers and communities of South Asian countries collectively at the Annual "South Asian Film Festival ...dissolving boundaries.

'saff' has proved that it has a strong socio-cultural & political ramification in the South Asian Region and no other private public initiative has been able to make such an impact through the medium of arts & cinema so far in this region. As you know, films play a very important role in the psyche of masses in this region. This medium must be put to best and optimum use for generating and initiating various efforts already underway to bring peace & harmony and to reinforce initiatives for improving trade opportunities in the region.
